Arctic Blast and Heavy Downpours Are Heading to East Texas
The first few days of December have been beautiful. We've had lots of sunshine and temperatures have been right about average for this time of the year (highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s)
Get Ready For A Big Weather Change
Clouds will start moving this evening (Tuesday), and then the chances of rain will start in the morning. The chance of rain will rise to about 80% by the time school starts on Wednesday, and will stay there until about midnight.
Some of these showers could bring heavy rain totaling around 1-2 inches in some areas across East Texas. A few thundershowers are possible, but nothing severe is expected.
The high temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday should be near 60, but then...
Arctic Blast is Moving In Friday
Friday, a major change is coming. A strong Polar front will spread across East Texas. High temperatures will only reach into the 40s, maybe just the upper 30s according to some computer models.
We will only have a slight chance of rain on Friday, but the another 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible Saturday through Monday, with the highest probability coming on Sunday.
4-6 inches of rain could fall in some areas around Lufkin/Nacogdoches over the next 5 days.
Bigger rainfall totals could occur closer to the Upper Texas Coast and across Louisiana.
Thankfully, temperatures throughout the period will remain above 32 degrees, so no freezing precipitation is expected.
There are plenty of Christmas events across the area this weekend. Hopefully, the weather won't put a damper on these activities. Regardless, you'll definitely be needing something to keep you warm.
