Lufkin Detective Scott Wilcox said his office received the warrant for Dixon from Missouri City, in Fort Bend County, and they began searching past known residences in Lufkin to determine where he could be staying.
“We received information from Missouri City detectives that they believe he was in Lufkin,” Wilcox said. “We started investigating where he could be and two days after we received the warrant, we began watching a house.”
The first house detectives watched turned out not to be where he was staying, but a resident informed detectives that Dixon was in town and where they believed he was staying.
“We started watching the other house, and we watched him get into his car and drive away from the house,” he said. “We followed him and when he stopped at a car wash and was out talking to individuals who were there, we approached him and took him into custody.
“We caught him by surprise,” he said.
Wilcox said after checking Dixon’s criminal record, they knew he was known to be carrying weapons on his person and his vehicle. They wanted to be sure he could not hide anywhere or endanger others as they approached him and made themselves known.
“We were able to take a dangerous guy off the streets,” Wilcox said.
