Diboll is Throwing a Party on Friday with Free Dinner and Bingo
Diboll Day History
In 1953, the very first Diboll Day was recognized. For five straight years, the city hosted this annual event to celebrate the community and its timber industry.
Since 1958, Diboll has shared this celebration with its sister city in Sabine County, Pineland. On even-numbered years, Diboll Day takes place, and on odd-numbered years, Pineland Day happens in the Fall.
It's 2023, so Pineland is loaded with activities this week as they celebrate Pineland Day. It's homecoming week plus there will be a parade, queen crowning, entertainment, and much more on Saturday.
Diboll Day Celebrates a Milestone
The next official Diboll Day celebration will happen in 2024. However, this year does mark the 70th anniversary of the first Diboll Day, and the Diboll Booster Club and the City of Diboll have decided to recognize this with a big event on Friday evening.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6, a community Diboll Day birthday party will be taking place at the Lottie and Arthur Temple Civic Center in Diboll. They will be serving a traditional sawmill supper (beans and cornbread) and birthday day cake, Plus, everyone who attends will get a Diboll Day birthday gift.
There will also be several cash bingo games. A total of six bingo games will be played, five of which will be for $100 cash, and the sixth will be a blackout bingo for $250 cash.
It's All Free!!
Yeah, I had to ask twice on this one. Everything happening at this community birthday party is free. You don't have to pay anything for the supper, and there is no charge to get a bingo card and try to win some cash.
Everything is first come, first served, so get the Civic Center as close to 5:30 as possible
