First, Here Comes The Rain and Thunderstorms
Rain chances across East Texas will start popping up on Wednesday. The Lufkin/Nacogdoches area has a 30% of showers or a thunderstorm on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Rain chances will continue through Easter Sunday, with the highest probability (70%) coming on Thursday. Up to two inches of much-needed rain is forecast to fall over the Deep East Texas area between now and early next week.
The Storm Prediction Center does not anticipate severe weather across Deep East Texas from this system; however, a few other computer models do show that possibility.
When Will The Colder Temperatures Arrive?
The temperatures across the Pineywoods will remain above normal through Saturday. The average high temperatures for this time of year are in the mid-70s. We will continue to rise to between 80 and 85 degrees through April 4. As of this posting, the leading edge of the colder air is forecast to push through Lufkin and Nacogdoches a little after sunset on Saturday.
The low temperature on Saturday night is expected to reach into the mid-50s. Sunday morning, the temperatures should stay between 55 and 61, before reaching a high later in the day near 70. Northerly winds may gust up to 10-15 mph, making it feel just a little colder than the air temperature.
