Four East Texas teenagers have been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in Angelina County during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 12.
According to Captain Alton Lenderman with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office, all four suspects have been charged with the crime of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The bonds have been set at half a million dollars for each individual. The four men have been booked into the Angelina County Jail.
Those charged include:
Jaiquies Lewis, 17 years old, from Wiergate, Texas in Newton County.
Zahdyn Brooks, 19 years old, also from Wiergate, Texas.
Jaykeevien Collins, 19 years old, from Lufkin, Texas
Omarion Lewis, 17 years old, no address listed
Authorities believe all four teenagers were involved in the fatal shooting of Justavian Fann, 19 years old, from the Jasper area. That shooting reportedly took place around 3 a.m. in the 400 block of Charlton Road at the Cabbage Patch Club.
When Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the club, they reported finding a large group of people in the vicinity and the body of Fann.
No details concerning a motive for the shooting nor other contributing factors were released by the Sheriff's Department. Additional charges are pending.
The Cabbage Patch Club is located just north of Ellen Trout Drive in the Cedar Grove Community. According to an article from KTRE-TV, a stabbing there in 2008 led to the death of a 54-year-old man. The 24-year-old suspect who was son-in-law to the victim was later exonerated from the crime. In the 2010 trial, the jury ruled that the suspect acted in self-defense.
