Forest Festival Kicks off with Pom Pon/Dance Team Championships

Tonight is the night.

It's the start of one of East Texas' most anticipated events. The Texas State Forest Festival gets underway at the Expo Center in Lufkin featuring the KICKS 105 Pom Pon/Dance Team Championships sponsored by Academy of Gymnastics and Dance.

Squads representing Huntington, Hudson, Lufkin, Diboll, Center, Onalaska, and Pineywoods Academy will be competing tonight in various dance categories such as Pom Pon, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Registration will begin around 5:45 and the competition gets underway at 7. A complete look at the performance schedule is listed below.

The Texas State Forest Festival will run through Sunday and features events like the Hushpuppy Championships, Lumberjack Show, cheerleading competition, East Texas Got Talent, plus there's a huge carnival and plenty of food vendors and much, much more.
