This New Food Trailer is Aiming for Six “Best of Nac” Category Awards
Being voted "Best of Nac" in any category is a pretty big deal. Winning even one in a year is a great honor, because it shows that the people in Nacogdoches are fans. Several businesses and/or organizations have been known to win the award for multiple categories. This year, there's a newcomer that's hoping to take home six, yes SIX, Best of Nac awards.
Smash and Pass Burgers
Smash and Pass Burgers is one of the newest food trailers to make the rounds in Nacogdoches, and they've come out strong, setting up at various locations like Fredonia Brewery, Mad Hatter Distillery and even the Nacogdoches Farmers Market. As far as their menu goes, they specialize in exactly what the name implies - smash burgers.
But, the impressive thing is that they qualify for six different categories in the Best of Nac competition. Check out the categories:
- Food Truck / Trailer
- Hamburger
- French Fries
- Onion Rings
- Breakfast Burritos (Yes, they even sell breakfast items!)
- New Business
Waiting on Nomination Announcements
The window for submitting nominations for Best of Nac closed on February 16th. The top five finalists in each category will be announced, and then official voting will start on March 30th.

I'm curious to see if Smash and Pass will make it to the final round of voting for all these categories, and even more curious to see if they can bring home the Best of Nac titles. Like I said, winning even one is a big deal. That means that six would be monumental!
It's Not Just About the Awards
One other cool thing about the Smash and Pass Burgers is that they're also supporting another cool cause. One of the items on the menu is called "The Pass" - Hence, the name...This is not a physical menu item. It's a chance for the customers to make a donation that will go into the Nacogdoches community to help out the homeless population and/or the people that need help with getting food.
So, it's a food truck with a good cause!
