K9 Unit Leads to Drug Bust, Arrest on W. Main in Nacogdoches

In an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking, Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Deputies charged Michael Anthony Green, 56, of Nacogdoches, with numerous offenses following a traffic stop.

Green was identified by NCSO investigators as a source of narcotics in Nacogdoches County, and around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, he was arrested during a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. Main Street.

Deputies requested permission to search the vehicle and were denied. A K9 unit was requested, and the Nacogdoches Independent School District Police Department responded. The dog alerted to the presence of drugs, and a search was conducted.

Inside, deputies found 19.8 grams of marijuana, 1.3 ounces of ecstasy, and 14.8 grams of crack cocaine, as well as a large amount of currency.

Green was taken into custody for the narcotics found inside the vehicle. A search warrant was also served at Green’s address in the 300 block of Ritchie Street shortly after he was taken into custody.

Inside the home, deputies located five firearms, more than 6.8 ounces of marijuana, 1.4 ounces of ecstasy, and an additional 6.4 ounces of crack cocaine. Currency was also seized.

Green is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Green was booked into the Nacogdoches County jail on four first-degree felonies of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, delivery of marijuana, a state-jail felony, felon in possession of a firearm, and a Class-B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

The Nacogdoches Police Department and Nacogdoches ISD Police Department assisted the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office in these incidents.
