This free event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and culminates with the awarding of prizes at noon. Participants will be expected to bring their own fishing equipment and bait to the event in order to participate.

The pond will be stocked with over 700 trout, courtesy of Texas Parks and Wildlife. A fishing license is not required for fishing done during this event. No pre-registration is
required to participate in the event, and participating children may register for prizes by signing up at the weigh-in station as they catch fish.

Prizes will be given in the following five different categories; first fish caught (for each gender), heaviest fish of any species, largest trout, smallest trout, and heaviest stringer (five trout). Participants are divided into two age groups, ages 1-8 years old and 9-16 years old.

The Nacogdoches Fire Department will be at the event grilling sausages and interacting with the children, and the Nacogdoches Bass Fishing Club will be helping with the weigh-in. GETCAP Head Start will be donating snacks for the participants.

This event is a great way to introduce youth to the sport of fishing while having fun outdoors. For any questions regarding Kid Fish please contact the Nacogdoches Recreation Division at 936-559-2960 or email recreation@nactx.us.
