The Lufkin ISD Administration is pleased to announce that Brandon Boyd has accepted the position as the principal for Brandon Elementary. Mr. Boyd is taking the position held by Dr. Elizabeth Walter who will be retiring in May.

Mr. Boyd has 21 years in education previously serving in the Lufkin school district as a teacher and coach at Lufkin High School, the assistant principal at Brandon Elementary and assistant principal at Lufkin Middle School. He has spent the last three years as the junior high and then high school principal at Livingston ISD.

Boyd received his Bachelor of Arts in geography from Texas Tech University and his Superintendent Certification from Lamar University in 2015.

Dr. LaTonya Goffney, Superintendent of Schools, said, “We are thrilled to have Mr. Boyd back in Lufkin. His experience and calm demeanor are a natural fit for Brandon. I look forward to good things from Mr. Boyd and the continuance of the great leadership Dr. Walter has set in motion.”

He and his wife, Jerri Kay, who is the Lufkin ISD Girls Athletic Director, have three children: Coulson (age 9), McCall (age 6) and Jessi Faye (age 5) who are all students of Lufkin ISD. He is a member of the Harmony Hill Baptist Church, the Angelina Youth Soccer Association and a volunteer for the Jana Broxson Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

A welcome reception for Mr. Boyd will be held on Thursday, May 18th at 4:30 p.m. at the Lufkin ISD Administration Building prior to the regularly scheduled board meeting at 6 p.m.
