Phonograph Day - 1878 - Thomas Alva Edison, famed inventor, patented a music player at his laboratory in Menlo Park, NJ. (This music device is the one we know as the phonograph.) Here’s the real skinny on the story: Edison paid his assistant $18 to make the device from a sketch Edison had drawn. Originally, Edison had set out to invent a telegraph repeater, but came up with the phonograph or, as he called it, the speaking machine.

You Survived The Explosion! Here is A Pizza

From CNN.com -

February 11th Greene County, Pennsylvania residents were shaken when a Chevron natural gas well exploded.  The blast killed a worker and injured another, and although the fire is out gas and heat are still being emitted into the atmosphere.  So what is Chevron doing to compensate local residents who were effected?

Chevron is dispensing 100 gift certificates for pizza and soft drinks to those in the area of Greene County where the February 11 explosion sparked a fire that burned for four days. An employee at Bobtown Pizza confirmed the corporation's order of gift certificates.

"Worst apology ever: Sorry our fracking well exploded. Here's a free pizza," one angry Twitter user wrote Tuesday.
