Weather Service Activates More Flash Flood Warnings in East Texas
Numerous showers and thunderstorms are moving across Deep East Texas this morning, some of them are strong to severe and quite a few are producing heavy rainfall.
This has caused the issuance of Flash Flood Warnings for several areas of the Pineywoods. Catastrophic rainfall amounts have fallen across areas such as Polk and San Jacinto Counties and these storms are moving over these same areas.
Flash Flood Warning One
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northwestern Jasper County and all of Tyler County until 9 on Sunday morning.
Between 2-3 inches of rain have fallen across the area so far this morning, and more downpours are expected to bring an additional 2-4 inches to these counties.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Woodville, Colmesneil, Chester, Warren, Town Bluff, Rockland, Fred, Spurger, Ivanhoe and Hillister.
Flash Flood Warning Two
The National Weather Service in League City has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 10 this morning for southwestern Houston County, northwestern San Jacinto County, southwestern Trinity County and all of Walker County.
Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen across the warned area this morning and an additional 1-2 inches is expected. The ground in this portion of East Texas is saturated, so these extreme rainfall rates over a short period of time will quickly lead to flooding.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Huntsville, Trinity, Point Blank, Riverside, Huntsville State Park, and Sebastopol.
More specifically, this includes low water crossings such as Interstate 45 East Frontage Roads at Nelson Creek and at South Bedias Creek and several areas on State Highway 75.
Flash Flood Warning Three
The National Weather Service has also issued a Flash Flood Warning for Polk County, southeastern Trinity County, and northern San Jacinto County until 10 a.m.
Ongoing downpours are expected to bring more flooding to areas such as Livingston, Corrigan, Groveton, Seven Oaks, Segno, and Goodrich.
Never travel through high water over a roadway. Most flash flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service.
