There aren't many high school teams in the nation that can lay claim to the dynasty that has been built by the Nacogdoches Dragon Swim Team.

This past Saturday at the district meet in Lufkin, competing with 11 teams, the Dragon Men won their 14th straight district title while the Lady Dragons won their 12th in a row

Hailey Goggans was named District Newcomer of the Year and Coach Carrie Scroggins was named District 16-5A Boys Team Coach of the year. 13 men and 13 women form the Dragon Swim Team qualified for the Regional meet in Dallas to be held February 5th and 6th.

“We are hoping to get several relays and some individuals through to the state meet. Our kids swam well and I know they will do well at Regionals in Dallas on Feb 5th and 6th. I was also pleased with how our freshman swam. I see a lot of potential in the upcoming years” said Coach Eric Ewing.

Nacogdoches Superintendent Dr. Fred Hayes also offered his accolades, “I am very proud of the work of these coaches and students. Our swim program is a perfect example of the excellence we expect for our schools and programs. Good luck at Regionals.”
