According to a post on the Nacogdoches Police Department's Facebook page, officers responded early this morning to reports of gunfire in an area near Brooks Quinn Jones Elementary School.  The reported drive by shooting took place in the 1400 block of Dolph Street.
Investigators report that they were called to the scene around 12:43 this morning (9/28).  The incident resulted in one death. Officers arrived and found that three people had been struck by gunfire, one being deceased. The remaining two wounded subjects were taken to area hospitals. Officers learned that the gunfire came from a passing vehicle and are working to locate a vehicle and suspects.
Dolph Street was closed for a few hours following the shooting.

This is the same area where Nacogdoches Police responded to a deadly shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 1.  That shooting lead to the injury of three persons and the death of one person. According to a Nacogdoches Police Department's Facebook post, around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, August 1, officers responded to the 1400 block of Dolph Street, near Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School, after receiving reports of multiple people being shot. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.

Several arrests were made in that incident.  Sunday evening, August 1 around 8:00 p.m., the Nacogdoches Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division, along with the S.W.A.T team conducted a search warrant in the 400 block of St. Claire St in the Redland area of Angelina County.  Three arrests were made at the residence and no one was injured. Those arrests were all tied to shooting that had occurred earlier on Dolph Street.

Nacogdoches Police are still investigating the shooting that took place this morning and will release more details as the case unfolds.
