Time to Dump Those Old Tires and Electronics at a Lufkin Event
Do you have unwanted tires just laying around your property? Do you have a bunch of old electronics that you haven't used in years? Here's a perfect opportunity to dispose of those items.
Angelina Beautiful/Clean is hosting their 'Tire & E-Waste Collection Day' on Saturday, October 23, at 500 Southpark Drive in Lufkin from 9am to 12 noon. This event is a convenient way for Angelina County residents to properly dispose of unwanted tires and electronics. In an effort to cut down on illegal dumping and minimize health risks to the public and environment, people will be able to dispose of household electronics and up to eight tires at no charge. Car and small engine batteries can also be disposed of at this year’s event.
Additional car and light truck tires are accepted but will cost $2.00 for each tire, and semi-truck tires will cost $5.00 each. Off-road tires will not be accepted. The event is open to citizens only, no businesses.
TV and computer monitors are not accepted at this time.
Per Emily Thornton, AB/C Executive Director, “This is a service that the City of Lufkin and Angelina Beautiful/Clean love to offer the community each year. We take great pride in helping Angelina County residents properly dispose of these items simply because they are two items we commonly find dumped illegally. This is a FREE resource that we offer the community and we want to strongly encourage everyone to take advantage!”
The event is free, but if you feel compelled to donate some money to the cause, that would be welcome.
The Regional Recycling Center collects more than 4,000 tires each year during this event. More than 65 tons of electronics from past Tire and Electronic Recycling Day events have been collected. This keeps unwanted electronics out of the landfill and old tires out of our ditches.
