One of the most exciting events in sports is the buzzer beater for the victory.  That's exactly what happened Saturday night, but we'll get to that in just a bit. If you haven't been to a Ladyjack or Lumberjack basketball game this year, you've been missing out on some great entertainment.

Let's take this past Saturday night as an example.  An SFA doubleheader was featured with the SFA Ladyjacks playing the first game against new Southland Conference member University of Incarnate Word.  Adding to the excitement of the game were performances by the SFA cheerleaders, pom squad, and Jack Attack.

During the halftime, we were treated to some routines by the Green Starlettes Drill Team. These young ladies are a part of the Girl Scouts of the San Jacinto Council which serves the Houston, Beaumont, and East Texas areas.  The Green Starlettes are made up of girls from the 4th through 12th grade, and its purpose is to build confidence and give the Girl Scouts a fun and exciting dance experience.

Another entertaining part of the evening was the basketball game featuring 5 & 6 year olds from the Central Heights Little Dribblers.  Smaller goals were brought onto the court during the half of the Lumberjack's game and then the fun began. Sure, not every violation of traveling or double dribbles were called, (in fact, none where), but that didn't matter.  These kids were having a blast and so were the fans.  In the end, 2-0 was the final with Cole Soloman scoring the winning bucket.

Speaking of winning, the SFA Ladyjacks took the first game of the doubleheader with a 79-59 victor over UIW.  Then, in the 2nd game, it was a battle between two outstanding teams.  The Lumberjacks were trying to notch their 28th straight home victory, but with about 4 minutes to play, things were looking so good as the Cardinals had built a 7 point lead.

But SFA is tough!

SFA retook the lead, but then UIW tied it with a 3 pointer with less than 30 seconds to play.  So, it all came down to one shot for the Lumberjacks to try to win the game in regulation.  The video below shows what happened next.

The Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks are at home again this Thursday night.  Make plans to come out and bring the family for a fun night of basketball.
