Woman Finds 3.72-Carat Diamond at Crater of Diamonds State Park
As someone who is definitely not in touch with nature, searching through dirt and rocks for diamonds does not seem very appealing.
I've heard stories about families searching for diamonds at various parks, but I did not know that REAL people actually found REAL DIAMONDS!
According to reports, on August 16th, Texas native, Miranda Hollingshead found a yellow diamond while visiting Arkansas's Crater of Diamonds State Park.
Miranda had a regular day planned originally, but when her siblings decided to visit, plans were changed. The family decided to do something fun together and learned that the Crater of Diamonds State Park was only a few hours away.
Hollingshead searched the park for about an hour before she decided to take a break and watch Youtube for tips on finding diamonds. It was during that break that Miranda looked down to where she was sitting and found the gorgeous yellow gem.
Miranda and her family took the stone to the Diamond Discovery Center, where staff verified her find as a 3.72-carat yellow diamond. Talk about luck!
The Crater of Diamonds State Park believes in the motto "finders keepers," so Miranda is able to take her beautiful prize home. If Miranda decides to sell her gem she's looking at making some major moola, but Miranda has stated she might just decide to keep the diamond and mount it on a ring.
In 2019, 319 diamonds have been found at The Crater of Diamonds State Park. 13 of those diamonds have weighed at least one carat each! I definitely know where I'm going for my next vacation.
What would you do if you found a diamond at The Crater of Diamonds? Would you keep the diamond or sell it? Maybe put the diamond in a ring for your future children and grandchildren?
