In the days leading up to the first day of school, many East Texas campuses were busy as teachers and employees were putting things in order for the arrival of students.

I knew the time would come. I knew that sooner or later someone would call out my name for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  Thank you, Johnny Lathrop.

Let's see if this sounds familiar: You call your child - no answer.  You try again - straight to voice mail.  You send him/her a text - no response.  Frustration turns to worry until you see that the text has been read, but still no answer from your child.

As I celebrate my birthday today and look back on my past 50 years, one thing is for certain. I have truly been blessed.

I still vividly remember my first day as a 9th grader at Lockhart High School.  I was a wide-eyed freshman standing in the bus rider line and I recall thinking to myself, "My gosh, the juniors and seniors are so old."

The US Soccer Team lost to Germany today 1-0 in their 3rd game of pool play at the World Cup.  But, the big news is that Team USA will be advancing to the next round of Cup action.

The Dee Jays here at KICKS 105 are huge soccer fans...well, we are right now and we have a full blown case of World Cup fever, especially after Team USA's big win over Ghana.

Every month I make a trip to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  Many of you may know that my mom has Stage 4 breast cancer and for several years we've made our monthly treks there for treatments and testing.  On our last trip there something that only I could do happened and I thought I would share to hopefully brighten your day.

The list of KICKS 105 winners heading to Arlington to see George Strait's final performance continues to grow, and now we have a chance for you to sing for your tickets on the Merrell in the Morning Show.

We're winding down the last few weeks of George Strait's Cowboy Rides Away Farewell Tour.  And, YES, we still have tickets that you can win for the big show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Sean Carter had a 'decision' to make.  He was a 22 year old college student in 2005 when he decided to catch a ride home with someone who had been drinking more than he had.

Darn you, chocolate!  What do you have against my teeth? It looks like all those years of eating my favorite sweets have taken their toll and now I'm set for a couple of root canals... Starting today!
