Sophia is on a roll.

For the third straight year Sophia is the most popular baby name in America. This according to a release from the Social Security Office.

However, when it comes to names for baby boys, for the first time since 1999 we have a new number one. Noah was the most popular name last year. Jacob, which had been number one for 15 straight years dropped to number 3 behind Liam.

Keep in mind that these are specific spellings of these names. For instance, the name Sofia ranks in at number 13 and is not grouped with alternate spellings of that name. To find out the ranking of specific names click here.
