Brandon Belt $100K Fishing Tourney is This Week on Sam Rayburn
In 2022, the first-ever Brandon Belt $100K Grand Slam Tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn paid out over $400,000 in cash and prizes. The team of Benji Gulett and Dustin Rivers weighed in nearly 43 pounds worth of bass which earned them the top cash payout of $100,000.
This year's tourney is coming up from Thursday, January 12 through Saturday, January 14. The top 20 teams from the first two days of fishing will come back on Saturday for the championship round.
Last year, icy conditions forced the cancellation of the second day of the tournament. This caused tournament officials to allow all teams to fish in the final round. The weather in 2023 should be much better. It will still be chilly with temps around 40 to start the mornings, and highs near 60 later in the day. The biggest concern will be the windy conditions, especially on Thursday. Winds could gust to over 25 mph
In 2023, the top team in the Grand Slam Tournament will once again win $100,000. The payouts for quite a few places after that will be quite attractive. Last year, the top 41 teams received cash. The second-place team received $30,000.
Online registration will continue for the tournament until 7 pm on Wednesday. In person sign-ups will also be taking place on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the tournament headquarters and weigh-in site at Umphrey Family Pavilion. That is located about a mile east of the Sam Rayburn Dam.
This tournament features a 118% payback with respect to entry fees. This year's event will once again benefit the Father's Heart of Brazil, an orphanage providing endangered children with immediate safe refuge as it also seeks to find long-term solutions for them and their families.
