Dressed to Impress at Banita Creek Hall in Nacogdoches
This year at our annual KICKS 105 Halloween Costume Contest at Banita Creek Hall in Nacogdoches, I decided to dress up as a Houston Astros fan watching the ball game at a bar. In other words, I put no effort into dressing up for this Halloween, but there were lots of folks at Banita Creek Hall who were very creative and put a lot of effort into their costume this year.
I saw a T-Rex, a box of Mcdonald's French Fries, Velma from Scooby-Doo, Oompa Loompas, Squid Game costumes and quite a few witches, devils and ghoulish characters. There were other costumes that I never was able to figure out. I guess I haven't watched those shows, movies or Tik Tok videos.
KICKS 105 has teamed up with Banita Creek Hall for many, many years in our annual Halloween Costume Contest. The $1005 that's up for grabs is split three ways for the top male, female and group costumes. In year's past, winners have included Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers, Nacho Libre and a deer hunter and sexy deer.
The costumed contestants parade across the stage and tell the patrons who or what they are. Then, the crowd is allowed to cheer for their favorites. It can be very tough to gauge which contestant gets the most response, and this year was no exception.
In the group division, it came down to the Johnny Depp version of Willy Wonka and the old version of Oompa Loompas against the eventual winner - a Little Red Ridin' Hood ensemble, complete with a dog portraying the wolf. In the male division, Elder Kyle spreading the Word took home the top prize. In the female division, it was all about the grapes as a young lady dressed in green balloons was declared the winner, barely edging out an American Horror Story clown.
