Hail, Damaging Winds Could Spread Across East Texas on Monday
March has arrived, and in East Texas, that means the occurrences of severe weather will start to pick up. Most of our wicked weather happens in April and May, but it's not out of the norm to get some severe episodes in March.
Severe Weather Forecast for March 4-5
After a warm and wonderful weekend, rain chances will start to filter into East Texas on Monday. Right now, we are looking at a 50% chance from 6 a.m. to noon on Monday, increasing to a 60% shot from noon all the way through early Tuesday morning.
The entire eastern third of Texas is under the threat of severe weather from Monday through early Tuesday morning.
The good news is that currently, that threat is considered 'marginal' or a '1' on a scale of 1 to 5. More good news is the development of tornadoes is very minimal. The biggest threat from these storms will be hail and/or gusty straight-line winds.
Rainfall amounts should range between a half inch to a little over an inch. There could be isolated higher amounts.
And Then...More Rain
We will get a short break from the rain on Wednesday, but it returns on Thursday and Friday. At this time, no severe weather is expected with the late-week rainfall.
Next weekend should be clear, but cooler with highs in the 60s.
