A cold front will be approaching East Texas, bringing with it a chance of storms and downpours. Severe weather is also a possibility.

Some Good News About the Easter Weather

Even though Lufkin, Nacogdoches, and the surrounding areas could receive severe storms, the chances are marginal.

The best chances for widespread severe weather, including tornadoes, hail, and damaging winds, will occur from the ArkLaTex northward. Once again, portions of Arkansas and Missouri are in the bull's-eye for the worst of it.

Some Bad News About the Easter Weather

As mentioned above, we could still get stormy weather on our Easter Sunday. Plus, some areas could receive up to 2 inches of rain, or more.

The official forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) indicates 1-2 inches of rain could fall in the Pineywoods between noon Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday.

The Timing Of Our Easter Storms

If you're heading to Easter services on Sunday morning, a few morning showers or thunderstorms are possible. The NWS puts the chances at 30-40%. Gusty southerly winds will not be a friend to Easter dresses and hairdos.

By mid-afternoon, the rain chances jump to about 80%. That's where the probabilities will stay until late Sunday night.

It looks like the best time frame for severe weather and heavy downpours in Deep East Texas will happen between 3 p.m. and midnight. A few lingering showers are possible through sunrise on Monday.
