Every morning while I am aimlessly scrolling on Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter there is a book in front of me. I keep a book nearby, but with the dopamine infusion given to me from all these apps and websites, it's hard to read a book for entertainment.

The phone and the app you are reading now sometimes seem to control your life. When you see what others have, you are tempted to spend money on things you don't need.

If you want to learn and to be in a better mood reading is always a great idea. Buying new books all of the time can get expensive, and the Friends of Kurth Memorial Library know that better than any other organization in Lufkin.

Save Money Two Ways With This Annual Library Book Sale

The 50th Annual Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale at the Kurth Memorial Library is here. The non-profit group uses this event to garner members and money for new books.

Thursday, April 18, 2024, is Friends night from 5 PM to 9 PM in the meeting room. You can sign up to be a member right when you come into the room if you want to shop.

Starting Friday, April 19th and Saturday, April 20th the book sale will be open to the general public. The sale is from 10 AM to 5:30 PM on both days.

That is how you get at all the hardcover books for sale. If you want paperbacks and magazines they are for sale during regular library hours at the front of the library.
