Lufkin Man Charged with Ramming Ex-Girlfriend’s Vehicle
According to a Lufkin Police report, Daniel Ramirez Huerta, 39, of Lufkin, was taken into custody around 10:15 Friday morning after he allegedly rammed his ex-girlfriend's car repeatedly while threatening her with a hammer.
The woman called 911 at 10:09 a.m. to report that he was driving behind her on Timberland Drive and that she was in fear of him. While she was on the phone with dispatch, Huerta began ramming her Ford Mustang with his Toyota Corolla. He also had a hammer in his hand, waving it out the window at her in a threatening manner. He rammed her car multiple times before officers found them near Big's Convenience Store on North Timberland Drive and took Huerta into custody. Lufkin Police provided dashcam video of that pursuit.
Huerta is being charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
A search of his vehicle uncovered the hammer, under his front passenger seat.
The woman reported him running her off the road on a Loop 287 feeder near Eye Mart Express last week. During that incident, she said that he threatened to kill her and struck her window with his first before fleeing the scene.
The incident remains under investigation and additional charges may be pending.
