Lufkin Man Dies in One Vehicle Accident Wednesday Evening
Lufkin Police have released the identity of a man who was killed in a single vehicle accident Wednesday night near Frank Street and the West Loop.
Kenneth Bortner, 73, of Lufkin, died at CHI Memorial Medical Center Lufkin following the 5:45 p.m. accident.
He had just exited Frank Avenue onto the northbound Loop 287 feeder when his 1999 Ford Ranger veered to the left and struck a concrete barrier. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he later died.
It is unknown at this time what caused Bortner to veer off the road. An autopsy has been ordered.
The accident remains under investigation.
