One Woman Injured in Shooting at Cheddar’s Restaurant in Lufkin
Saturday evening around 9 p.m., the parking lot at Cheddar's Restaurant in Lufkin was aglow in blue and red with numerous police vehicles on site from the Lufkin Police Department.
According to a release on the Lufkin Police Department's Facebook Page, Lufkin Police officers are working an incident at Cheddars in which a woman was shot in the ankle during a disturbance.
The disturbance began in the bar inside Cheddar's Restaurant around 9:35 p.m. between two women. One of the women involved shot the other in the ankle/foot area.
The suspect has been detained and there is no threat to the public at this time.
The victim’s injury is not believed to be life threatening. She is being taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Lufkin Police officers are on the scene and they are still sorting out the details as to what exactly transpired between the women that led to the shooting. Further updates including forthcoming charges and details of the incident will be released at a later time.
The area around Cheddar's on southeast loop in Lufkin should be avoided at this time.
