Police Arrest Man for Discharging Gun, No Extra Charge for Asking Dumb Question
When you combine alcohol, drugs, and guns, the outcome can't be good.
Monday evening around 9, Lufkin Police received calls about someone firing shots near the intersection of Pershing and Bynum. Police were informed that the shots may have been fired by the occupant of a dark colored Dodge Challenger. Officers were able to perform a traffic stop on a car matching that description. The driver of the vehicle, Miguel Monsivais, told officers he had no weapons in the vehicle and had not been firing any shots.
Police noticed signs of intoxication from Monsivais, and upon searching his vehicle discovered spent shell casings, two hand guns, empty bottles of alcoholic beverages, and around 5 grams of marijuana. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Angelina County Jail.
While en route to the jail, Monsivais asked officers if they could retrieve his drugs and alcohol so that he could have it in jail. Luckily for the suspect, there is no law against asking dumb questions.
