• Two people stole azalea plants from the SFA Campus early Thursday

  • The SFA Police Department has released photos from surveillance cameras

  • Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department

A Facebook post by the Stephen F. Austin State University Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying two persons who stole plants from the SFA campus early Thursday morning.

Surveillance footage shows a dark-colored pick-up truck with two occupants stopping near the SFA Alumni Center around 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 3.

Those two persons (perhaps women) pull up several azalea bushes, place them in the bed of the truck, and then drive off.

Why Would Anyone Do This?

I did some deep thinking on this, and came up with some possible scenarios.

1. There's a huge SFA Spring Garden/Gala Day Plant Sale coming up on Saturday, April 5th, from 9 am - 2 pm. Maybe they wanted to beat the rush.

2. Maybe it was two Grinches who discovered some lights on the plants weren't working, and they were going to take the Azaleas to their workshop to fix the lights, then bring back the plants.

3. Or maybe it's just two jerks who have a hard time comprehending the meaning of "Thou Shalt Not Steal." Hope those bushes are worth any future jail time, or punishment beyond.

Anyone who may recognize the truck or the individuals is asked to contact the SFA Police Department at (936)468-2608.
