The Absolute Best Burt Reynolds Movie, According To Mark
In case you haven't heard the news from yesterday afternoon, Burt Reynolds, the iconic movie star passed away at the age of 82. He played a lot of different roles, in a lot of different movies.
I mean, look at some of his greats. You've got Deliverance, The Dukes of Hazzard, Without A Paddle, Smokey and the Bandit (1, 2, and 3), All Dogs Go To Heaven (that's right, he even got into animated movies), BOTH versions of The Longest Yard, and lots more.
But what was his best?
Now, when I start thinking about what makes a movie great, or what makes a movie "the best" I think about what the movie made me feel. Did it bring joy? Did it make me laugh? Did it make me think about the bigger picture? Things like that.
So, when I think about the best Burt Reynolds movie, only one stands out well above the rest. This movie makes me laugh just as hard every time I watch it, as I did the first time. It's one that I can watch over and over again, because I consider it a classic, and well worth the time spent watching. Any idea which one?
Smokey and The Bandit.
Not two. Not three. Nope, just the original Smokey and The Bandit. Watching Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Sally Fields run from Sheriff Buford T. Justice and Junior is my absolute favorite Burt Reynolds movie, and I'd make the argument that it was his best. There are others that would disagree with me, but I'm sticking to this one.
