An arctic blast of cold air early next week will bring East Texas our coldest conditions so far this season.  We're expected to have a rainy Veterans Day Monday with temperatures dropping throughout the day.  Temperatures in the low 30s should be commonplace in the Pineywoods late Monday night.  The National Weather Service advises that some snow flurries may occur in parts of East Texas, but no accumulations are expected.  However, with the wet roads from Monday's rain and the temperatures near or below freezing, icing on bridges or overpasses could be an issue late Monday and early Tuesday.

As a precautionary move, crews from the Texas Department of Transportation will be pre-treating bridges and overpasses beginning Friday in the northern part of the Lufkin District. These areas include locations in Angelina, Nacogdoches Shelby and Houston counties. Motorists should be alert and prepare for possible short delays as this work progresses through these counties.
